The uphill and downhill tour

Length: 36.2 km

Ideal tour for lovers of long climbs and fast descents

From the Kelheim lock, the route leads to Zieglertal. You ride slightly uphill on a gravel path until you pass Palmberg. Then take a short forest path before reaching a gravel path again that leads through the forest. From there, there is a long, leisurely ascent to Ried. After passing through this village, we follow a forest path steeply downhill. This leads to a gravel path that leads downhill to Emmerthal. A flat stretch via Prunn and Nußhausen leads to another gravel climb. After almost 3 km uphill, the path leads downhill, first on gravel, then on asphalt to Sausthal. There is a short climb on a tarred road (KEH 5) before we head downhill via Osterthal back to Zieglertal and finally to the parking lot at the lock.

Start of the tour: At the exit of the right parking lot (down the canal)

Directions: A93 - Exit 45/Regensburg Süd, Exit 46/Bad Habbach, Exit 48/Hausen, in each case in the direction of Kelheim; leave Kelheim in the direction of Riedenburg, after the district of Gronsdorf turn left over the lock bridge of the Kelheim lock over the Main-Danube Canal.

Parking: On both sides of the canal
