The Danube Panorama Trail runs for 220 km from Neustadt a. d. Donau to the German-Austrian border in Passau. The trail stretches along the "Wet Limes", as the Danube was also known as the border of the Roman Empire.
Of the total of 10 suggested stages, the first three stages run through the district of Kelheim. All three stages are around 20 km long and relatively flat, making them ideal for a one-day stage.
The three stages together are perfect for a short break - alone or in company - in the heart of Bavaria.
Enjoy a short break and experience the motto of the Danube Panorama Trail: "City, Country, River"! Pack your trekking rucksack, buy your Bavaria ticket and go to Bavaria timetable find the right train to Saal a. d. Donau. There are accommodation options at all stage destinations that can also accommodate hikers for one night.
After the three daily stages, you will reach the UNESCO World Heritage city of Regensburg, where you can recover from the 60 km hike and enjoy the Mediterranean flair of Regensburg's old town. Take the train back home from Regensburg's centrally located main station - or continue your hike towards Passau.
