The Winzerweg is one of four themed trails in the district of Kelheim. Funded by the LIFE+ nature project DANUBIA, the "DonauPforten" are designed to introduce visitors to unique natural and cultural landscapes along the Danube in the form of texts, images, videos and audio contributions (via QR codes).
Hermit monks lived a secluded life in the solitude offered by the forests of the Weltenburger Enge. You can discover their history on this trail. But there are still "hermits" here today - albeit specimens of a very rare species of beetle. You will also see huge giant trees along the way. When it gets dark, Bechstein's bats buzz through the forest and the "ringing" of yellow-bellied toads can be heard from ponds.
