The Danube Cycle Path touches the south of the Altmühltal Nature Park: although the 167 kilometers are only part of the entire route, which leads from the "source of the Danube" in Donaueschingen to its mouth in the Black Sea, there are culturally interesting town gems along the way, such as Donauwörth with its proud houses, Neuburg with its Renaissance castle, Ingolstadt with its famous churches and fortifications, Weltenburg with its monastery and Kelheim with its old town and liberation hall.
Traffic load
NoteThe somewhat arduous route from Weltenburg to Kelheim can easily be covered by boat as an alternative. The Danube breakthrough provides an impressive backdrop for the trip.
