Through the hills of the Hallertau

If you are not from the region, you can travel comfortably on the agilis trains or at the weekend with the leisure bus line 3 from Kelheim or Mainburg. From here, the tour leads south along the Abensradweg to Biburg. There it is worth visiting the Romanesque monastery church and the Chapel of the Redeemer by Angerer the Elder. The route continues along the Abensradweg to Siegenburg, where the "Hallertau Cathedral" is another impressive church building. We continue the tour in the direction of Niederumelsdorf and Wildenberg, past many hop gardens (to Pürkwang signposted circular tour no. 32, from Pürkwang signposted circular tour no. 33).

The next stage destination is Rohr i. NB, where visitors are impressed by the Asam Church with its seemingly floating depiction of the Virgin Mary. After visiting the church, you can stop off at the Hotel-Gasthof Sixt, where you can also recharge your batteries. Refreshed, we continue our route in the direction of Kirchdorf (follow the Kirchdorf/Siegenburg road signs). On the way we pass through Untermantelkirchen, where the Hallertau Farm Museum tells us about life in the Hallertau in the olden days (the museum is open on Sundays from 1 to 5 pm). If you haven't taken a break in Rohr i. NB, you have another opportunity to do so in Kirchdorf at Gasthaus Rieder. E-bike batteries can also be recharged here. The last stage takes us back to Abensberg via Biburg (signposted circular tour no. 32).
