Riedenburg mountain and valley tour

Length: 22 km

This tour takes you over one of the longest wooden bridges in Europe - the Tatzlwurm near Essing with a length of 193 meters.

he trail begins at the market square in Riedenburg and runs along the unpaved section of the former railroad line until shortly before Schambach. There it heads east uphill to Buch. From Buch, the route heads south to Echendorf, past the church and the farm museum and then onto an unpaved forest path. Via Schlott you reach the Altmühltal valley to Essing (unpaved path). Cross the "Tatzlwurm" wooden bridge near Neuessing to reach the cycle path running parallel to the state road and then cycle via Nußhausen, Prunn, Emmerthal past Aicholding Castle and St. Anna Monastery, cross the canal bridge to the Crystal Museum and then return to the starting point. Museum fans can also visit the Klingendes Museum or the Meeresmuseum in Riedenburg.

A93 - Exit 45/Regensburg Süd, Exit 46/Bad Abbach, Exit 48/Hausen, in each case in the direction of Kelheim; continue through Kelheim to Riedenburg.
