Kelheim Archaeological Museum - history you can touch

An exciting tour through the history(ies) of the Kelheim region.

The Kelheim Archaeological Museum in the late Gothic duke's box shows the development of the region from the Neanderthals through the Celts and Romans to the early Middle Ages.

Original finds such as a rare bread loaf idol, Celtic burial objects and the Roman coin hoard from Eining are brought to life with models, reconstructions and illustrations. Discover the Celtic city of Alkimoennis, the Roman settlement and the life of the first Bavarians.

The town history section sheds light on Kelheim's development: from crafts, wine and beer production to shipbuilders and medieval shipyards. In the romantic inner courtyard, you can see 13 meters of original remains of the Celtic wall and a reconstruction of its original height.

Changing Special exhibitionsGuided toursevents and an extensive range of museum educational program such as children's birthday parties or workshops for school classes complete the offer. You can even get married in the Herzogkasten.

As a member of KeltenWelten e. V. (verein-keltenwelten.de) and the Network of Roman Museums on the Danube Limes the Archaeological Museum invites you to discover regional history in a large network.
