In 1913, the imperial year, a great spectacle was expected in Kelheim to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation Hall and the 25th anniversary of the throne of Kaiser Wilhelm the Second. Even nature was shaken, with a huge rock being detached from the Jura rock. But was that really the case? Or did they want to use the opportunity to "flatter" the emperor so that he would absolutely love it here? If the emperor liked it, the high nobility would like it, etc. And they hoped for "summer visitors" and many guests. You can find out what marketing was all about back then on a 2-hour guided tour along the "old beer route" to the former Schottenhof and back along the Altmühl through what was once a Celtic settlement area.
The meeting point is in Gronsdorf Archaeological Park Station Keltentor (parking available here), the route is not barrier-free. Please wear good shoes and suitable clothing.
