Kelheim district archaeologist Dr. Joachim Zuber will guide the participants of the excursion to a special place in the Kelheim Frauenforst not far from the Frauenhäusl:

One of the largest burial mound necropolises in Lower Bavaria is located in the middle of a wooded area that recently became famous because of an aggressive wild boar. Several of the sometimes impressive burial monuments from prehistoric times show clear traces of massive interventions and even partial destruction. There is hardly any information about them. As a result, little more than the mere existence of this important site is known to this day. Nevertheless, on a two-hour walk with Dr. Joachim Zuber, the intrepid can find out what the impressive necropolis reveals about the conditions at the time of its creation and what is probably hidden inside the mounds.

Note: Please wear good shoes and suitable clothing for the weather. The trail is not barrier-free.
