Dear guests,

As a globetrotter and individual traveler, I have been able to travel to many countries and admire wonderful nature and sights. Nevertheless, I can count my home town of Kelheim, where I was born and grew up, as one of my favorites.

Not only the unique landscape with the Bavarian canyon, the Danube gorge with its fascinating limestone formations and the Weltenburg monastery located there with the oldest monastery brewery in the world, beautiful cycle paths in the Altmühltal with cozy beer gardens, no, the old Wittelsbach town is also home to historic settlements such as the Celtic oppidum Alkimoennis in its surroundings.

High above the old town, the neoclassical building of our Bavarian King Ludwig I towers on the Michelsberg, reminding us not only of the Napoleonic Wars of Liberation, but also of the unity between the German peoples.

Immerse yourself with me in a world of Bavarian dukes and kings and discover the mysterious symbolism hidden behind the figures and inscriptions of the Liberation Hall. Learn more about the old town of Kelheim with all its sights such as the white brewery, old Jura houses or the freedom fighter Matthias Kraus.
