Immerse yourself with me in an exciting journey into the settlement history of the town of Kelheim and the surrounding area, which dates back more than 80,000 years. Neanderthals, Stone Age people, Celts, Germanic tribes, Romans, Bavarians, Franks and Wittelsbachers were the foundations of today's city of Kelheim, from the former metropolis for iron ore mining and processing - the Ruhrpott of antiquity and the Middle Ages, to the center of Bavarian winegrowing, the monopoly and beginning of wheat beer production, the main mining area for Kelheim marble, the completion of Charlemagne's dream - the Ludwig Danube Main Canal, the beginning of German unity with the "German Confederation" as a groundbreaking event with the construction of the Liberation Hall, the beginning of industrialization and today's tourist metropolis of the Danube Gorge and the Altmühltal Nature Park.

For me as an amateur blacksmith for historical metal design, this is a never-ending reservoir of ideas and inspiration.

Kelheim is a town of relaxation, meditation, amazement and a unique landscape.
