Twelve tailor-made stages through the magnificent natural landscape of the Bavarian Jura - that's the new Jurasteig award-winning trail!
As a 230 km long circular route in the heart of Bavaria, it leads over the heights and valleys of the Danube, Altmühl, Weißer and Schwarzer Laber, Lauterach, Vils and Naab rivers. There are also 17 loop trails that branch off from the main route as additional day tours. Hiking on the Jurasteig is a hiking experience, guaranteed, for example, by a high proportion of natural paths, a unique, attractive low mountain range landscape, but also numerous rest stops and the integration of hiker-friendly gastronomy into the Jurasteig concept. Last but not least, modern, complete and clear signposting - separately for both directions - always ensures safe orientation.
Pristine river landscapes alternate with Mediterranean-style karst landscapes. Castles and monasteries can be found along the Jura Trail, as can rocky pinnacles, fragrant juniper heaths, sparse pine forests and shady beech woods. Nature lovers can still observe animals and plants along the Jura Trail that have become rare elsewhere. Peregrine falcons, beavers and kingfishers still have a home in the Bavarian Jura. Numerous orchids, carthusian pink and quaking grass are constant companions along the way.
Further information on the entire trail and the other stages can also be found at www.jurasteig.de.
