East Bavarian Way of St. James

The East Bavarian Way of St. James leads pilgrims along historic paths towards Santiago de Compostela - from the Czech border via Regensburg to the Altmühltal Nature Park.

From Kelheim, the route leads via Weltenburg Abbey to Altmannstein and the Bettbrunn pilgrimage church. The pilgrim then passes the important religious center of Eichstätt. From there, the route continues via the former monastery church of Bergen and the former imperial abbey of Kaisheim to the former free imperial city of Donauwörth. In Donauwörth, the East Bavarian Way of St. James meets the Bavarian-Swabian Way of St. James.

In the Altmühltal Nature Park, the East Bavarian Way of St. James is signposted in both directions with the scallop shell.
