Due to construction work, there will be rail replacement services at Saal (Donau) station during the following periods: 4 to 31.07. and 29.08. to 2.09.2025. The buses used do not transport bicycles. Alternatively, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays you can use the Leisure bus use. The nearest train stations are in Regensburg (from Kelheim further along the Danube cycle path) and in Münchsmünster (on the Danube cycle path towards Ingolstadt).
For your return journey, including transportation of your bike, it is best to take the Deutsche Bahn. However, you will have to cycle a further seven kilometers to Saal a. d. Donau, as the train station is only there. At weekends and on public holidays (May to October), you can also use the leisure bus with bicycle trailer as an alternative for the return journey.
