As the former royal seat of the early Wittelsbach dynasty, Kelheim has a considerable historical heritage, which is reflected in countless written documents spanning seven centuries. The Kelheim town archive holds extensive holdings of important archive material dating back to the Middle Ages. However, the majority of the archives date back to the early modern period and the 19th and 20th centuries and allow a detailed picture of the life of our ancestors in Kelheim to be drawn.
