New bronze city model enriches Kelheim's old town

The old town of Kelheim has been enriched by a special gem: a detailed bronze model on a scale of 1:500 has recently been erected in front of the Rauchhaus, showing the urban development status of the year 2025. Measuring 1.00 x 0.75 meters, it invites locals and visitors alike to explore, linger and rediscover the town in miniature.

The polished base made of Kelheim Auer limestone in warm beige bears a model in which eleven characteristic buildings - including the town halls, the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Evangelical-Lutheran church of St. Matthew, the Otto Chapel, the town gates and the Archaeological Museum - have been worked out in great detail.

Accessibility was a major concern: prominent buildings are also marked in black and Braille. This allows people with visual impairments to feel their way around the historic old town and get an overview.

The bronze model was donated by the Kelheim Tourism Initiative (KTI) - a big thank you! Planning, coordination with the artist and production company as well as the installation on site were in the hands of city architect Andrea Rieger and her team from the building authority and building yard.

The new bronze model has created a meeting place - for young and old, for guests and citizens of Kelheim.
