Swimming in the Danube is still strongly discouraged.

Two people have reported symptoms of blue-green algae poisoning to the Kelheim health department.

Both individuals had recently spent an extended period in the water during a boat trip between Vohburg and Kelheim and subsequently suffered from typical symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

In this respect, the suspicion of a blue-green algae bloom in the Danube has been further substantiated. However, the detection of blue-green algae in the water samples is still pending. In the meantime, however, the individuals have recovered.

Swimming in the Danube is still strongly advised against for humans and animals. The Kelheim district office will provide information on new findings in due course.

Mayor Dennis Diermeier also advises against swimming in both the canal harbor and the canal.

Whether the canoe triathlon will take place on Saturday will only be announced tomorrow (Friday).

However, the harbor festival is taking place.
